You know when you find something and it changes a piece of you? Almost like you take a slightly different breath, it’s that A-ha moment…it makes you feel that small taste of hope and joy. For me in the last few months I have been taking time to identify my place with my yoga practice and how I get to take my yoga and my teaching to the next level. It’s a tough one, lots of questions, concerns, insecurities, and fears get tangled with the excitement and joy of doing what I love to do. Finding that place of truth to get on my mat and be there. Life takes over and I get all consumed with that needs to get done, the kids, my husband, the spa, and then all of the sudden I crash. I feel like the world is coming in on me, and I have realized once again I have not found time for my own self, for the discovery of my own truth. When I go there, when I pay attention to that, I find peace and space to breathe, and I have the capability to be strong and calm and loving, and I can be there, present for myself and for the world around me. One yoga practice, really that is all it takes? Well, I am not sure about that, but it’s a step in the right direction to feel the goodness, and get the sensation to have it more and more!
So, I had that moment, that little bit of “A-ah” came to me as I was reading a new excerpt from a book called “Yoga For Life”, by Colleen Saidman Yee…I am kinda a junkie for yoga books, inspirational books, and anything that just makes me feel good! I opened up the intro and I read it…I related to it, I got it! It was so powerful and it resonated with me in a way that it made me gasp. She nailed it.
We all live our lives, fast and furious, but when it comes down to it, finding space and time to be able to really listen to ourselves, to dig deep and truly listen is possibly the hardest thing to do. Simply sitting on the mat, making time, and showing up to listen, it’s worth it!
